RuPaul’s Drag Race Recap: A Rusical, A Runway, and a Ruthless Elimination!

This week on RuPaul’s Drag Race, the queens took on one of the most anticipated challenges of the season: the Rusical! With a Wizard of Oz-themed production that felt more like an A Chorus Line tribute, the queens battled it out with vocals, choreography, and pure stage presence. Some soared, some flopped, and one queen was left in the dust after a lip-sync that can only be described as brutal.

The Rusical: Who Ruled and Who Got Ruby Slippered?

The queens were given the freedom to pick their own roles this week, and while that worked out for some (Sam’s Wicked Witch was pure genius), others made choices they would quickly regret (Acacia as Dorothy? Oof).

Top Performers:

  • Sam took on a Wicked Witch role with a Cher-inspired twist and completely owned the stage. Her transformation from reserved competitor to full-blown star was impossible to ignore.
  • Jewels delivered campy perfection as Glinda, proving that she has the natural charisma needed to dominate this competition.
  • Onya tackled a high-energy role and pulled off one of the most technically difficult performances of the night.

Flops of the Week:

  • Kori struggled with choreography and faded into the background.
  • Acacia … well, let’s just say her Dorothy performance made us all wish we could click our heels and go home.

Runway: Shady Ladies Serve Up Drama

The queens hit the runway in their best Shady Ladies looks, incorporating parasols into their fashion statements. Some gagged the judges, while others had them yawning.

Best Dressed:

  • Sam stunned in an effortlessly elegant gown, sealing her well-earned win.
  • Arrietty served gothic glamour with a crystal-encrusted look that left the judges speechless.
  • Jewels rocked a classic mourning widow aesthetic that dripped in drama.

Biggest Misses:

  • Lydia’s outfit screamed fast fashion, not high drag.
  • Acacia’s parasol-wig combo was a fun idea, but the rest of her outfit was a disaster.

Judging Shockers & A Lip-Sync Bloodbath

The judges placed four queens in the top, but the rankings were questionable. While Sam rightfully took the win, Jewels and Onya arguably deserved higher recognition than Suzie, who played it a bit too safe.

In the bottom? Kori vs. Acacia in a lip-sync showdown to Adam Lambert’s “Wet Dream.” And by showdown, we mean Kori completely obliterated Acacia. It wasn’t even close. Within seconds, it was clear that Acacia’s time was up, and RuPaul wasted no time sending her home.

Final Thoughts: The Competition Gets Real

With Acacia gone, the race is officially tightening. Sam has secured her frontrunner status, Jewels desperately needs a win, and Kori is one bad week away from sashaying away.

Who’s next to go? And will Jewels finally get her moment? One thing’s for sure—things are about to get fierce. Stay tuned!
