JetBlue Pilot Arrested at Boston Logan Airport Over North Carolina Warrant

February 21, 2025 – Boston, MA

A JetBlue pilot was arrested on Thursday, February 20, at Boston’s Logan International Airport after authorities discovered an active arrest warrant issued in North Carolina. The pilot, identified as Jeremy Gudorf, 33, of Ohio, was preparing for a flight to Paris when law enforcement detained him on board the aircraft.

Arrest and Charges

According to Massachusetts State Police, Gudorf was arrested following a standard review of the flight manifest conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The review revealed an outstanding warrant for Gudorf in North Carolina on charges of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. In addition to the North Carolina charges, Gudorf was charged in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice.

Gudorf was arraigned in East Boston District Court on Friday, February 21. Prosecutors requested that he be held without bail and asked the court to order the surrender of his passport. However, while the judge did not take his passport, Gudorf was ordered to be held on $10,000 bail and instructed to return to North Carolina by February 25. A court date in Massachusetts is set for March 19, which will be waived if the North Carolina warrant is cleared.

Investigation Details

The Huntersville Police Department in North Carolina initiated the investigation after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October 2024. Following the tip, police obtained a search warrant for Google, which eventually led to the identification of the source of the reported images.

“Late last year, Google complied with the warrant and provided the necessary records to law enforcement,” the Huntersville Police Department stated. “Based on the evidence gathered, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Mr. Gudorf on charges of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.”

Legal Defense and Statements

Gudorf’s defense attorney, Tanvi Verma, emphasized his commitment to cooperating with the legal process. “He does have the financial capacity to rent a car and drive to North Carolina,” Verma stated in court. “He has assured me he will do that.” Verma also noted that Gudorf has no prior criminal history and understands the seriousness of the charges against him.

“As public defenders, it is our responsibility to ensure that every single one of our clients is presumed innocent, and treated accordingly, until proven otherwise by the state,” Verma added.

JetBlue’s Response

JetBlue confirmed Gudorf’s arrest in a statement and announced that he had been placed on indefinite leave pending the legal proceedings. “We are aware of and closely reviewing the arrest of one of our pilots upon reporting for work at Boston’s Logan Airport Thursday evening due to an outstanding warrant,” the airline stated. “The pilot has been placed on indefinite leave as law enforcement proceeds with the matter.”

Next Steps

Gudorf is required to return to North Carolina by February 25 to address the charges. If the warrant is cleared, his Massachusetts court date on March 19 will be waived. The specifics of the case in North Carolina were not discussed during the court hearing in Boston.
