Delhi Election 2025: 46.55% Voter Turnout Till 3 PM, AAP and BJP Allege Fake Voting

Voting for the Delhi Assembly Election 2025 is in full swing, with a 46.55% voter turnout recorded till 3 PM. The polling will continue until 6 PM across 13,766 polling stations in the national capital. The elections will decide the fate of 699 candidates, with AAP, BJP, and Congress locked in a tough contest.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged young voters to participate, calling it the “festival of democracy.” There are 1.56 crore eligible voters in Delhi, including 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women, and 1,267 third-gender individuals.

More than 30,000 police personnel and 220 paramilitary companies have been deployed across the city to ensure security and smooth polling.

AAP and BJP have accused each other of election irregularities, with AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj alleging that Delhi Police tried to stop voters in Chirag Delhi, while BJP claimed fake voting in several areas.

Arvind Kejriwal is facing off against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit in one of the most-watched battles. The Kalkaji constituency features another high-profile contest between Delhi CM Atishi, Congress leader Alka Lamba, and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a Queue Management System (QMS) app to help voters check crowd levels at polling booths in real time. Special provisions have been made for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The ECI has also banned exit polls from 7 AM to 6:30 PM on February 5.

The counting of votes will take place on February 8.

NDMC member Anil Valmiki claimed that the Valmiki and Dalit communities are voting for BJP across all 70 constituencies, dismissing AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s statement that the party is losing ground in Delhi.

The District Election Office (DEO) North Delhi denied allegations of voter coercion at Sainik Vihar polling station in Shakur Basti, dismissing reports of a police officer pressuring voters to support a specific party.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha alleged that security personnel at polling stations are preventing relievers from entering polling booths, impacting the electoral process in several areas of the New Delhi assembly constituency.
